MJ: What are your thoughts on on-going counseling within the marriage even when “things are good”?
Percell: Again, it seems to be an unfortunate normality of human behavior to seek to be the best at / of whatever. This equates to not needing mentors, guides, educators, etc. So, we ignore such thoughts as coaches / counselors for the welfare of our lives...but, curiously, seek out “leaders” for our welfare in church and government for example. Are not our individual lives more important? We will take the car in for tune-ups and preventive maintenance to make sure that everything is as it should be, yet we will not do the same thing for our marriages. This is completely insensate behavior to me.
